That is a bold statement, but it’s true. The Bible is full of stories of everyday people like you and me, who gave themselves fully to God—and in turn He used them to do amazing things. They participated with God in His ongoing work to bring a lost world back under His care. We have the same opportunity today!
This kind of work is too much for any one of us to do alone. It is not a solo endeavor. Church is a team sport, each one of us doing what we do best. That is the biblical model. God’s Word tells us that every person has been given special traits to use for His service. (Romans 12:4-8) We each have a unique set of spiritual gifts, heart’s passion, abilities, personality, and experiences.
These characteristics have especially prepared us to participate fully in the mission He has given us: love God, grow together, and reach the world.
As you might imagine, there are many opportunities to serve the Lord at Wheaton Bible Church in a variety of ministry areas and roles, including ministries that serve children; junior high, high school, and college students; young adults, singles, men, women, maturing adults, engaged and married couples, local and global outreach and worship arts—people at just about any age and stage of life.
Meeting with a Volunteer Staff Coordinator is the easiest way to find your place to serve. Volunteer Staff Coordinators are aware of many serving opportunities available at the church. By talking with you, and learning about your interest areas, a Volunteer Staff Coordinator can make suggestions to help you find a good fit, and help you take the next step in getting plugged in.
Then we recommend our Discover Serving class. This three-hour class will help you take the things you know about yourself and put them in a framework that helps you see God’s purpose for your life. What are the interests, spiritual gifts, passions, traits, and experiences that He has given you - and how did He create you to serve?
