How I came into relationship with Jesus Christ
I was 23 years old, at graduate school here in Chicago. My future wife, Kari, introduced me to the unconditional love of God and it blew my self-centered life wide open. After wrestling with all kinds of intellectual questions for several months, God used a pretty dramatic answer to prayer to turn my heart to Christ and I have been serving Him ever since.
How I came to Wheaton Bible Church
By accident! It was late 2005 and we had just moved back to Wheaton from California. We were looking for a new church home and although my wife's family had been a part of Wheaton Bible Church when she was a kid, we were actually on our way over to try another church in the area. However, we were running very late because of our baby and as we were driving past Wheaton Bible Church we saw that the service hadn't started yet so we figured, why not give it a try instead?
What I do at Wheaton Bible Church
I am the Pastor for singles 35 and older, leading and coordinating our efforts to reach the singles both in our church and in our community. I also work on the Community Life Team, teaching in various Adult Communities, helping design and develop leadership training materials, writing community group curricula, and providing pastoral counseling and care. I am also responsible for the weekly devotionals, help lead the Alpha Course with Marie Allison, and work with new believer discipleship.
Why I do what I do
God gave me a clear call to come alongside other people to equip them and help them grow and mature in their faith, discovering their gifts and putting them into practice, learning what it means to be a disciple and how to make other disciples. This is my life passion and it's an incredible blessing that I get to do this full-time.
