Place 4 Women has partnered with Outreach Community to assist in providing for the many needs of this ministry. This life-changing ministry reaches out to young single moms providing a supportive living community for those who might otherwise be homeless. With life-skill training, support services, education and spiritual development, these women are giving the tools to make a new life for themselves and their children. There are two living options at Jubilee Village and each leave opportunities for us to support them.
Jubilee Village I
Transitional living ministry for young single mothers, ages 18-25. The goal is a successful transition from homelessness to independent living with 24 months. Full capacity here is 17.
Jubilee Village II
Independent, supportive living ministry that provides affordable housing and support for graduates of Jubilee Village I. This building is next door. It is in transition from traditional tenant occupied apartments to ministry as the mortgage is paid. These are 16 units and presently 4 are used for ministry.
What We Have Accomplished
In March we painted 3 bedroom in an apartment, had the carpets cleaned, stocked it for the new residents and provided each of the women with a welcome basket as they arrived. We also began to stock the emergency closet with the necessary items. The landscaping project is proceeding as well. In April we put together Mother's day baskets for the women living in Jubilee Village.
Current Needs
We have an opportunity to serve. As we painted and stocked the apartment, we got to see the needs. All the beds are on the floor because there are no frames. The high chairs we saw were quite old with split vinyl seats. Several of the sofas were 1970's vintage and needed replacing. We asked the director to provide us a list of their needs. She hesitated to do so as I think she felt awkward to ask for so much. We encouraged her to ask. It is a big list but, we do serve a bigger God! Below is a list of specific items needed.
Place 4 Women is partnering to help provide for the needs of each of these apartments. We will look at providing for them in the following ways: emergency closet supplies, welcome baskets, painting and stocking the apartments, landscaping and weekly childcare. We will continually update the list of items needed and you can put anything purchased behind the women's ministry desk with a note stating "Jubilee Village". There is a need for monetary donations to help cover the $5,000 annual scholarship per apartment and for major repairs which include a sprinkler system, new roof, new windows and patio door. Please contact Katie Potesta if you can help with this in any way.
When a new mom arrives at Jubilee Village she needs all the basic items to setup her apartment. Several of the already occupied apartments also need items. Would you consider items you may be able to supply. There is no need to contact Katie on whether these items have been purchased. As these needs come up regularily all year. If you provide something that doesn't have an immediate home to go too, one will open up in the near future. Please place your purchases behind the Women's Ministry desk in the atrium labeling it "Jubilee Village". The needs are as follows:
