Gems

We invite you to participate in GEMS, our special needs ministry at Wheaton Bible Church. We believe God has blessed us with children who have special needs and has entrusted us with their care. The volunteers who serve in this ministry have compassionate hearts and a desire to share the love of Christ with these children and their families.

We have volunteer "buddies" who come each Sunday at 9:45 and 11:15 for one hour to work with a GEMS child. They assist in any way necessary to help the GEMS children have the best experience possible each week. The children's ministry staff will work with parents to determine where your child will be placed and what we can do to provide a
valuable time each Sunday morning.

On Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 we hold our mid-week Pioneer Clubs for GEMS children.  This provides a great opportunity for them to not only grow deeper in their faith, but to learn and showcase skills and abilities they have.

Friday Night Fellowship

On the 4th Friday of each month we alternate between a Prayer 'N' Share night and a Friday Night Fun event.  We also will discuss many topics of interest related to special needs.  Child care is provided for the GEMS child and their siblings.

Respite Day

The 2nd Saturday of each month is set aside from 11:00-2:00 for parents to enjoy a time out together.  Childcare is provided for the GEMS child and their siblings.

Volunteer Ministry Opportunity

As a "buddy" to one of our children with special needs, you will be assigned a specific child and will work with him/her each week one to one. Training is provided at the Children�s Ministry Summit and other times throughout the year. No previous experience is required.
