At Wheaton Bible Church, we believe that Jesus' Great Commission to the Church in Matthew is not only the task of our missionaries, but of the whole congregation. All have us have a vital role to play in God's kingdom work among the nations. There are many ways to get involved with Global Outreach at WBC; here we have noted some of these opportunities. Prayer for Missionaries
There are many ways to pray for our missionaries! Click here to view praises and prayer requests for our "Missionary of the Week." Pick up a prayer guide every two weeks at the Global Outreach & Local Impact connect station in the atrium. Many in our congregation have also committed to be prayer partners for specific WBC missionaries and missionary families. You can commit to be a prayer partner for one year by contacting Katelyn Scott at kscott@wheatonbible.org or 630.588.7188.
GO Teams
We offer mission trips throughout the year. Experience God at work in a different place and grow in faith. Our trips link us with WBC’s missionaries. We support their efforts by serving in a variety of ways, including English language instruction, construction, children's ministries, Bible teaching and community projects. GO on your Own
We have endorsed several mission trip opportunities for individuals to pursue on their own. Some of them are led or directed by our WBC missionaries and some are serving ministries or organizations that we partner with. Click here for more information.
Writers and Editors
A variety of monthly projects are awaiting skilled volunteers, such as reading and summarizing missionary letters and moving this information into user-friendly venues. Contact Katelyn at kscott@wheatonbible.org or 588.7188 for more information.
Global MissionsFest Team
This is the visionary and planning team behind WBC’s annual Global MissionsFest. The commitment begins in May and lasts through our week-long celebration of global mission, which takes place in October. Team members can get involved with any aspect of the week that interests them, such as promotion, all-church events, publications, missionary hospitality, exhibits, GO teams promotion and integrating MissionsFest into weekly church ministries. Heart for AIDS
Do you have a heart for AIDS? Wheaton Bible Church does too. Click here to learn more about how you can get involved in our partnership with the Africa Inland Church (AIC) and the Nakuru AIDS Initiative in Kenya.
Lunch with a Missionary
Women gather at the church on the second Tuesday of every month to share a meal and hear stories from one of our missionaries. These are special times to give and receive encouragement, hear challenging words and pray and fellowship together. We meet from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm in the Fireside Room. Contact Irene Watt at irenetwatt@juno.com for more information, or RSVP for the lunches to Marge Mason at 630.393.1818. Childcare is provided; call with the ages of children who will attend and bring a sack lunch for them. A $3 donation is suggested to offset lunch expenses.
Office Volunteers
Interested in helping out in the Global Outreach office? We need volunteers to assist with a variety of projects such as mailings and making photocopies. Contact Katelyn at kscott@wheatonbible.org or 588.7188.
Furlough Housing Team
This is a new team committed to providing support to missionaries who will stay in the furlough housing to be rented by WBC starting in 2008. We are looking for team members interested in finance or hospitality. Contact Katelyn at kscott@wheatonbible.org or 588.7188 for more information.
Hosting Missionaries
Do you have a gift of hospitality? Then you may be interested in housing missionaries here for short-term stays in the area. This is a wonderful way to develop relationships with our WBC family spread all over the world. Contact Katelyn at kscott@wheatonbible.org or 588.7188 for more information.
Website Volunteer
