Assimilation/Connect Ministry
If you are interested in any of the following ministry areas, please contact Lynne Morris, 630.876.6659.
- Administrative help: If you have experience with computers and data entry, we could use your help. Every Monday morning we enter our guests' names into the church's data base system. This information is used to send welcome letters and to invite our guests to attend Begin @ WBC.
- Gatekeepers: Men are invited to take an evening shift at the Welcome Desk to insure that our church is both welcoming and secure. Direct people to their rooms and activities, and provide a protective presence for those in meetings throughout the building.
- Greeters: Create a warm atmosphere for all who enter the doors at Wheaton Bible Church by serving as a Sunday morning greeter. Greeters are stationed at their door 30 minutes prior to the service and stay at the door 10 minutes after the service starts. No preparation is required for this ministry. Simply come with a warm handshake and a bright smile, and be willing to direct newcomers to the Worship Center, children's classrooms, or Visitor Center.
- Parking Ministry Team: If you like to help people in practical ways while being outdoors and active, you will enjoy being part of the Parking Ministry Team. Direct cars to open spaces prior to services and help people depart in an orderly manner after the service.
- Ushers: Cheerful, helpful men and women are needed to serve as ushers at the 8:15 a.m., 9:45 a.m. or 11:15 a.m. worship service each week. Ushers begin serving about 20 minutes prior to weekly services. Ushers are also needed for special events and occasional evenings.
- Substitute Ushers: Can't usher every week? Ushers are also needed to serve periodically when a regular staff usher is absent.
- Visitor Center Host: Do you have the gift of hospitality? Do you have an outgoing nature that makes it easy for you to speak with new people? Do you enjoy making people feel at home? Do you like being in the know about Wheaton Bible Church programs and activities? If the answer to these questions is yes, then you would enjoy serving at the Visitor Center during and in between the Sunday morning church services.
- Welcome Caller: Use your gifts of hospitality and your passion for connecting new people to the church by calling visitors who have filled out a Connect Card. Welcome Callers will invite visitors to our Begin_at_WBC class and answer any questions they might have about the church. Serve once a week, 1 hour shift, weekday only.
- Welcome Desk Host: The Welcome Desk will also serve as the communication hub for the building. As a host you will help Wheaton Bible Church attenders and guests retrieve information, sign up for programs, Bible studies and retreats using either paper or the website. Serve two times a month, two hour shift.
- Welcome Event Host: Use your hospitality gifts to serve by purchasing, setting up and serving light refreshments for Begin_at_WBC and Membership classes.
