Family Dedication at WBC

Family Dedication is an opportunity for families to publicly bless their child during a Sunday worship service as they demonstrate their desire to dedicate their child to God.  It also gives the congregation an opportunity to bless the family, pray for them, and affirm that they will support the family in this child’s faith development. Family Dedication carries a significant meaning at Wheaton Bible Church—both because it represents your desire to nurture your child’s faith from his or her earliest days, but also because it marks the first of the important Family Milestones we hope to share with you and your child in the years to come.

Prior to the celebration of your Family Dedication, we ask our families to participate in the Family Dedication Milestone Experience, where they:

1. learn what our church believes about the meaning and purpose of dedicating our children, and 
2. are prepared to participate in the Celebration Service.

They will also be introduced to our Family Milestone sequence, which begins in infancy and follows a child’s spiritual journey through to adulthood. Each family will also receive a special keepsake for their child, which will mark the Family Dedication Milestone.

This class takes place on Wednesday evenings, and is roughly 90 minutes in length. We believe it is important, if at all possible, that both parents share in this learning experience.
