    Children's Ministry Coordinator — Iglesia del Pueblo

    Part Time: 28 Hours/Week including 3 hours Sundays

    Iglesia del Pueblo (IDP), our Spanish speaking congregation at Wheaton Bible Church (WBC), is seeking a part time Children’s Ministry Coordinator. The purpose of this position is to partner with parents in our quest to see future generations love God, grow together, and reach the world. This position will provide development, oversight, and leadership for all aspects of IDP ministry to children, birth through fifth grade, including Sunday mornings, GEMS (children with special needs), and community groups.

    Responsibilities

    • Ministry Oversight – Oversee all aspects of IDP ministry to children. Serve as liaison between IDP and WBC to promote and support Family Fun Events and Neighborhood Bible Clubs. Facilitate communication between CM Childcare Coordinator and IDP to meet child care needs.
    • Ministry Support – Member of the WBC/IDP Children’s Ministry team for vision casting, ministry direction, and planning. Partner with team members on major CM events throughout the year. Support the overall mission, vision, and annual priorities of WBC/IDP.
    • Leadership – Provide vision, direction, development and management for all aspects of Sunday morning ministry to children from birth through fifth grade and GEMS Ministry. Oversee the development of a teaching program for children at IDP community groups. Program children’s events, such as Kid’s Choir presentations, and Día del Nino.
    • Discipleship –Seek to develop a culture where parents and grandparents fulfill their biblical calling to be the primary spiritual trainers of their children; equip parents and grandparents to pass on their faith to the next generation. Pursue discipleship and care opportunities in relationships with parents, volunteers and staff, which may include counseling, family care, hospital visits, etc.
    • Volunteers – Work with CM team to recruit, equip, train, oversee, and care for volunteers and paid childcare staff, ensuring they have completed the child protection screening process.
    • Personal Development – Pursue professional, personal, and spiritual development in the area of children’s ministry.
    • Curriculum – Partner with IDP Lead Pastor to research and select Gospel-centered curriculum for IDP Children’s Ministries. Prepare and gather age-appropriate Bible-based
    • Wheaton Bible Church Partnership – Develop an ongoing relationship with the Children's Ministry team of Wheaton Bible Church for the purpose of working together as one body in our church. Assist in developing policies, procedures, and manuals to maximize safety.
    • Finances – Responsible for the IDP Children’s Ministry budget.

    Requirements

    • Have a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ; be committed to developing your personal walk with God in order to model and lead others in their faith.
    • Attend Iglesia del Pueblo and accept the WBC/IDP Doctrine of Faith.
    • Bachelor’s degree in education, children’s ministry or related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Ability to lead current initiatives, while giving thought and leadership to long-range strategy.
    • Experience with passionately and creatively bringing the truth of Scripture into the hearts and minds of children.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to connect with children, parents, volunteers and staff.
    • Ability to listen effectively and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish). Proficient in speaking, reading and writing in both languages, and have the ability to translate back and forth between both languages.

    Special Needs Children's Coordinator

    Part Time: 18 Hours/Week including Sundays

    Wheaton Bible Church has an opening for a part-time Special Needs Children’s Coordinator in our expanding special needs ministry. This person will partner with parents to see future generations love God, grow together and reach the world. S/he will provide oversight and management to the special needs children’s program GEMS (infant-5th grade), and will serve as a part of the Special Needs (SN) and Children’s Ministry (CM) teams.

    Responsibilities

    1. Provide oversight and management of Sunday Morning GEMS program:
      • Work with SN team and volunteers to strategize and develop ways to make GEMS ministry more effective
      • Work with the SN Family Coordinator to develop specialized ministry plans for each child
      • Revise and implement programming and curriculum to fit the growing needs of the ministry
      • Work with CM team to provide education for volunteer teachers in order to help them welcome children with special needs into the classroom
      • Ensure that GEMS rooms are inviting, organized, age appropriate and safe

    2. Disciple GEMS volunteers:
      • Recruit, screen, train, equip and care for volunteers
      • Pursue relationships with volunteer staff for the purpose of developing their spiritual walk and helping them reach the special needs community for Christ

    3. Disciple GEMS children and families:
      • Pursue relationships with children and parents, encouraging them in their walk with Christ
      • Work with the SN Family Coordinator to partner with parents in discipling their children

    4. Partner with the Special Needs (SN) team to accomplish the following:
      • Cast vision, ministry direction, and plan for the future of the Special Needs ministry/li>
      • Provide oversight for the children’s portions of special needs ministry events
      • Improve policies and procedures, ensuring safety for individuals as well as the church
      • Partner with WBC ministries to integrate special needs awareness into the church body
      • Provide education to adult communities in order to equip the church to embrace those in our congregation with special needs

      • Research and establish relationships with outside organizations, to further develop our current ministries and to provide outreach opportunities
      • Network with other churches for the purpose of increasing special needs awareness, pooling resources, and partnering together to reach the special needs community for Christ

    Requirements

    • Experience with recruiting, training, overseeing, and working with volunteer staff.

    Bilingual Junior High Teacher (Spanish/English)—Puente del Pueblo

    Part Time: 25 Hours/Week

    Puente del Pueblo, is an outreach of Wheaton Bible Church in partnership with Outreach Community Ministries (OCM). OCM provides the leadership staff for this program. The person hired for this position will be an employee of OCM.

    Puente del Pueblo, is located on site at apartment complexes in West Chicago where services include case management, adult literacy, ESL tutoring, after school programs for elementary and junior high students and community events. Puente has also expanded services to a new apartment complex in the community and is looking for new staff to help launch this site.

    This position is part-time at 25 hours/week. Monday–Friday, 1:30 pm–6:30 pm during the academic year. Position may expand to 35-40 hours/week during the summer with all daytime hours. Some Saturdays required for special activities.

    Responsibilities

    The Junior High Teacher is responsible to build relationships with a group of 12-15 students and facilitate learning in an after school program during the academic year and a day program during the summer. Duties include academic tutoring, life skills instruction, teaching Christian education, facilitating group work with students involving experiential learning, planning and implementing community service activities, and communicating with parents. The junior high teacher is also responsible for maintaining Puente’s standard of classroom behavior during program time.

    Requirements

    A passion for working with junior high age students; Bachelor’s degree in education, social work or a related field; previous classroom teaching or group experience with adolescents; previous experience facilitating experiential or service learning strongly preferred; sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families and culturally diverse backgrounds. A current, valid IL driver’s license is required along with a good driving record and reliable transportation. A Commitment to OCM’s Statement of Mission and Faith is required. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
